20mm basing

My Germans are based 3 to a base with 3 bases making up the squad. Including the LMG base.

It's is not an exact 1for 1 figure represention but it looks nice. No problems.

I am starting an American Infantry group and am not sure whether to give them 4 base, one of which contains the BAR, to represent the larger 12 man squad.

This makes sense but would mean that Brits, Russians and Germans are 3 bases to a squad but Americans 4.

Does this sound reasonable?

( I base my 28mm figures on single bases but have a lot of the 20mm already based, apart from American, and definitely don't want to rebase.

My forces have different sizes of bases - the german panzer grenadier squads (5 or 6) have a 50x25mm base. The MG34/42 team a 25x25mm base (3 persons).

On the other hand, my american infantry divisions rifle squad (7 soldiers) have a 25x75mm base and the BAR team (5 men) have a 50x25mm base.

Sounds like a good approach. In that case, I will also go for a larger footprint for the US squad, mine will be 4:3 in relation to the Germans, which should work well.

I base my Germans on 1p coins and if I have any prone figures such as a prone LMG team I just use renedra base's 45mm x 40mm and for prone rifleman I just the 30mm x 20mm bases

Mine are on fender washers for riflemen, LMG, FOO and weapon teams get the larger 2" washers.These are big enough for the gunner and assistant, the third man is an ammo bearer anyway so a I just place an individual rifleman next to them in action.
