What exactly is a unit regarding activation and morale

Hello folks,

I'm fairly new to the BG ruleset and had my first game last week. Some questions arose, most of them already answered. One particular question is still in my mind:

What exactly is a unit regarding activation and morale? Keeping to the army lists, a unit of 5 Panthers is counted as one unit and therefor activated with just one order? And any morale test applies to all tanks? Or is every tank a single unit (which somehow comes into my mind if you read the example turn in the BG Kursk rulebook)?

Same applies for infantry platoons. Is every single squad a unit on itself? For example, if I play a FoTR German Volksgrenadier platoon consisting of a command squad, three grenadier squads and three MGs, do I thus have 7 units?

It felt weird that several tanks should form just one unit and be activated with one order whereas one single MG is counted as a unit as well. I was raised with the other big NZ WW2 ruleset and am probably still sticking to some game concepts which are not part of BG...

- A tank is a single unit. As it says in the example you read.

- Your Volksgrenadeer Platoon is indeed 7 units.

Yeah, people get that a lot, it can be hard to shake rules from other rulessets from your head at first. But the more often you play ....
