Polish Army in France (1939–40)
Sun Nov 24, 2019 11:17 am
Got a few questions concerning polish exile troops fighting in the 1940 Battle of France:
1. Did Polish Infantry/Cavalry Platoons re-organising in France stay to their original organisation structure (p.22-23 in the Blitzkrieg book) or did they rather transform to standard french organisation schemes?
2. Did they (at least partially) keep their original uniforms, or did they completely change to french style uniforms?
3. What kind of equipment was actually available to these troops.
(Only found information hinting that p.e. 10th Armoured Cavalry Brigade at least fielded some UE Carriers and R-35 tanks)
Was there any original polish equipment (AT-Rifles, horses, guns, vehicles etc.) preserved from the polish campaign?

have you tried this site:
http://www.polandinexile.com/france.html
This covers 1939 in Poland, if I could read Polish then maybe if it includes 1940 in Fance
http://wp39.struktury.net/
This has a picture in French uniforms with modifed helmet

Thank you very much!
All sources were indeed new to me!
I think most helpful would have been http://wp39.struktury.net/.
Unfortunately my vocabulary in polish is restricted to around half a dozen words.
At least found conclusive information that 10th Armoured Cavalry Brigade indeed received a number of R-40 and R-35 tanks:
