Here's a spot for you to put any feedback/comments/suggestions or questions regarding the BG:NORTHAG other lists.

Thanks

Hey Richard, for the USMC platoon transport options you list....
4 M1025 & 6 M998 HMMWV . . . . . . + 50 pts and In the AFV data - each M1025 comes with an HMG.
So I'd be getting 4 .x 50 cal's really cheap....

I just want to confirm that the assumption is that our enemy (like a Soviet Motor Rifle Platoon) also gets the main weapon on their BMP cheap too so it all evens out in the wash....

Am I looking at this correctly?

Hi Chris

Thanks for the question and I hope I understand what you are getting at correctly.

To be clear, when you pay the +50 points for the 4 M1025s and 6 M998 HMMWVs you are actually getting 10 HMGs or GPMGs as part of that deal. So yes, I guess you are getting a lot of firepower really cheap. Your also getting 10 highly mobile vehicles, 4 of which have an armour status of 0 and 6 of which are classified as soft-skinned vehicles. That is also going to cost you 10 orders to move your platoon around and even more when you want to dismount your fireteams. All that for basically 5 points each.

I’ve tried to take the costs of vehicles and their weaponry into account across all lists and platoons. Like you say the idea is that it all evens out so that 50 points spent in the Soviet list is relatively equal to 50 points spent in the USMC list. It might mean quite different amounts of this or that across lists, but game wise – the aim is to equal it all out.

That aim is nigh on impossible to reach!

Hi Richard,

our group is also getting into  Cold War and I will start with Marines. I read through the PDF and  have two questions:

1) Could it be, that for Dragon team (s)  (specialist support units)  the options for transport vehicles are missing? I`m asking because the brits have FV 432 and the russians BTR for their ATGM teams. In the platoon support section they also have transports.

2) Are there any possibility to take UH-1 hueys as transports like the CH-46? I`m not sure if it fits historical correctly but they took it in vietnam and had it in service for a long time. I know they were originally not constructed for troop transport.

Best regards from Austria

Hi Mate

Good pick up - yes the Dragon Team in the Specialist Support Section should have the same transport options as the Dragon Team in the Platoon Support section.

With regard to the Huey's, my sources noted CH-46 and the CH-53 as the transport helicopters - so that's what I listed. I'm aware of Huey's being used as gunships by the Marines - but not sure of where and when (re the 1980's) so I left them out and stuck to the Cobras. At the end of the day, it's your game with your mates. If you want to swap out UH-1's for CH-46's, if your opponent is fine with this, I say go for it!
