Removing Pins

Hi group,

Apologies, this is a basic question.

How and when are pins removed ?

Having read the rules I am thinking that it requires a token to be pulled but I want to get this right before my fist game.

You take one chit and roll 1D6 to see how many pin markers you can take off as a rally action.
