Hollywood Special
Tue Mar 12, 2019 11:16 am
I am a member of the Abingdon Wargaming Club and at our Sunday club game in February we played a battlegroup game with a Hollywood feel. It was based on the Monuments men, The Train and some Allo Allo.
These were the orders given “you meet with Renee Artois aka “Night Hawk” and he reveals the art is being loaded on to a train headed for Dusseldorf. Major General Von Klinkerhoffen and Lt Gruber are overseeing the loading of the train with what's left of the towns garrison. You also learn that there is some art still at the chateau and 2 British airmen who are being kept by Herr Flick head of the local Gestapo.”
The allies were tasked with finding the original fallen Madonna with the big boobies which was being taken by train to Germany. There were 5 copies of the painting, 4 fakes and one original. 4 copies were in one of the train freight wagons and one in the chateau. (copies inside closed envelopes, so didn't know until the end who had the original) They we also given art trucks to carry the artwork back to the starting position.
The allies had 4 platoon of mixed British and Americans with various vehicles. One platoon had an engineer squad and each platoon had a secret order to get the original to their divisional commander
4 club members were on the Allies and 2 of us handled the Germans.
They sent a British platoon to attack the chateau and lost all the tanks as there was an 88mm gun in the grounds, 3 turns later Herr Flick made a run out the back with the painting, but was finally caught by the Americans. The train tracks were demolished and the train was stopped on turn 5, but it was stuck in the cutting and allowed the German relief force to capture 2 of the paintings. A battle raged and finally on turn 10 the last 2 paintings were in Allied hands.
We had a great fun day, lots of Allo Allo jokes flying around.
