Plane armed with 37mm autocanons
Tue Feb 20, 2018 9:47 am
Hi all,
a plane with 37mm autocannons gets 3 shots on the battlefield. As planes do always get a 'Move and Fire' order does this imply that they have to fly 3 times over the battlefield (thus attracting more AA fire) or can they shoot up their 3 shots all at once?
cheers
Dirk

My last game we played last thursday got my first taste of a stuka with those. I took out 2 T34s and ran an 2 tube mortar battery off board.
The tanks i know we did correctly and i had some hot dice but i do have a question about whether i conducted the attack on the mortar battery correctly.
Was i correct to roll those as 2 sets of Autocannons under the ROF table? For example lets say my light autocannon gets 10 dice, was i correct in doubling this? We were rushed and i still haven't found a clear answer.

37mm autocannons have a ROF of 8, so two have 10 (max under multiple autocannons). You roll to spot the target, to-hit at 20-30 range (5+) with -1 for moving, so 6+. The target get a cover save and then. if any casualties, the morale test. Aircraft strafing isn't so deadly, especially against targets in cover... which even if you spot are hit on 6s and get a save. 3 strafes and the aircraft is out of small arms ammo.

From a historicall view i would not allow the Stuka G with it BK 3,7 firing HE or as small arms (meaning using it RoF) as the BK 3,7 had only 12 rounds and these where all armour piercing. It was designed to kill tanks, nothing else.
