Aircraft Weapons Question

This is a question regarding what/how people treat aircraft with multiple MGs and Autocannons.

I can see a few options:

Option 1: by the book, 'additive'
So the book states Aircraft MGs have a RoF of 3, so 2 MGs are 6, 3 MGs are 9 etc
So an IL-2 in Kursk has a RoF of 12 for its MGs

The book doesn't say if the plane has 2+ Autocannons what happens - but using the additive method, the IL-2 with 2x 37mm auto cannons has
RoF of 16!


Option 2: Multiple barrels
Given that they're all firing together at the same target, consider treating them as multiple barrel weapons
So the IL-2 would be
MGs - RoF of 10
Autocannons - RoF of 10

Option 3: Blend
MGs get 3 per up to max of 10
Autocannons - basically treat as multiple barrel given each has a RoF of 6 or 8 depending on size


There are 2 considerations with the above:

- with Option 2 and 3, if treating them as multiple barrels, do they get the 2 attempts per target for area fire?
- with the Autocannons - if 'additive' do you get 2 AP attacks against armour vs the 1 you'd get if treating as a multiple barrel weapon?

Multiple MG´s are ROF 10. 3 ROF per MG topping at ROF 10.
If an airplane has 2 MG´s --- ROF 6
If an airplane has 4 MG´s --- ROF 10

Multiple Autocannons always have ROF 10. And always attack once if using AP.
