French Armoured Division Battlegroup

The Chasseurs Portee Platoon (p.85) is the only Infantry Unit choice for this Battlegroup.
But this choice is given the 'Unique' special rule.
Due to Game Size Infantry Restrictions, the size of this Battlegroup would be restricted to Squad or Platoon Level.
I wonder if this is the true intention of giving them this rule and what might be the reason for it?

good spotting!
I would think that´s an error. The "unique" or "restricted" special rule is generally well visible, located to the right of the BR cost. And in this case it is located on the platoon composition description. That would make me think that´s a typo left there by mistake.
But also the mistaken one could be me, and this is intentional. With only 3 Chausseurs Portés battaillons existing in all the french army on may 10th, (1 per armoured division) that could make it enough for making it such an scarce choice.
Let´s wait for wiser people to decide!

I have official confirmation. The chasseur portés platoon is indeed “unique”.

Seems rather odd, as if there is one platoon of Chasseurs-Porte, there is likely to be another from the same battalion.

You have an option though: If you want to field more infantry, you can buy additional squads, which are not unique.
And, as with anything in BG, you can make your own, specific scenarios with more than one platoon of Chasseurs Portés. Whichever is fun for you and your players.

But single squads do not count for the infantry requirement.Powermonger wrote:You have an option though: If you want to field more infantry, you can buy additional squads, which are not unique.
Probably the best solution. Another one would be to use a lower in infantry requirement like the ones used in the Tobruk book.Powermonger wrote:

Three additional infantry squads counts as an infantry platoon for requirements.
Same with Soviet tank rider squads.

Now i am surprised. Wouldn't make this the "German's Defenders Ad-Hoc Platoons" rule from FotR redundant?Piers wrote:Three additional infantry squads counts as an infantry platoon for requirements.

Yes, but surely better that than making at least two formations that were absolutely considered a valid tactical and strategic option by their respective nations redundant instead?
