Both sides on Ambush fire
Sun Sep 08, 2019 4:57 pm
Can a unit with the ambush fire order be activated during its own turn?
So, in Side A's turn, the enemy Side B reacts to side A firing as it has a unit on Ambush Fire. In turn, Side A also has a unit on ambush fire which now fires back at Side B.
Can this situation happen and if it can who shoots at who and in what order?
Many Thanks

You cannot ambush fire an ambushing unit.
The only ocassion when you can use ambush in your own turn is in answer to an opponent´s reserve move.

Thanks for the reply.
So, is there an example for the reserve move scenario please? So that it is a bit clearer.

I've just read the example in dispatched 2 and it states that ambush fire cannot be used in the players turn in which they are issued.
ambush fire placed in an earlier can be used in the players own turn, however.
Page 15 of Kursk states that for ambush fire:
"The waiting ambush unit may now interrupt any enemy's unit order in their next turn"
It doesn't really say explicitly either way.
How do others play it please and I will just so the same.

From the latest FAQ: https://www.facebook.com/download/preview/962821097394774
• An Ambush order CAN be used in the same turn as it was placed to respond to an enemy Reserve Move (Reaction) order.

Understood.
Does it then follow that an Ambush Fire order CANNOT be used to respond to an enemy's open fire
Order in the same turn as the ambush order was placed.
BUT it CAN be used in the turns after?
Technically, can an ambush fire react to an opposing ambush fire that in turn reacts to an original open fire order?

You cannot ambush an ambush. That´s it.
You can ambush a a unit moving on reserve move in your own turn.

What it really comes down to is this: If it's your own turn why would you need to Ambush Fire? You just give the unit an Open Fire order and it Open's Fire. It takes one order just like Ambush Fire takes one order.
What's the point?

Im not sure, but you could give the unit the Ambush Fire in the turn before, right?
Even if not: When a unit move, it could be a better target during its way to its destination?
