Shooting At Helicopters
Sun Jun 09, 2019 4:38 pm
I recommend tanks and IFVs be allowed to shoot at helicopters using normal Aimed Fire, but with a minimum range of 30". All the standard rules for Spotting and Aimed Fire would still apply. Opportunistic ADA represents infantry and pintle-mounted MGs firing if the helo gets close enough. At longer distance, there is very little difference in the target aspect of a low flying helo and a fast-moving ground target. At 3,000 meters, a Hind is actually an easier target than a tank because of its size. By 1981, training crews to fire at helos with the main gun was standard practice in many armies. The Bradley had a quick-shoot sight just for engaging helos.
