Aerial observer aircraft

I'm thinking of using an Aerial observer but have a few queries

they are officer and artillery observer/scout but does this justify the points

does anybody use them?

do you take 2 chits if shot down?

Yes... all those traits do cost.

Yes... people do use them. I hate them bastards. Unrestricted lines of sight...
