I always wanted to be first

Good question...
We are considering a different aporoach with Northag, and one where you guys can get involved, see the game develop and add to its creation.

I like the sound of that. I managed to get the files from Richard who posted on the now dead guild from his version of a modern battlegroup so I will be pleased if any ideas come from those rules and lists.

We'll be posting more modern BG fights using Richard C's rules amendments within the next few weeks. Right now we only have 1 game under the belt but we'd like to do some smaller infantry fights with a handful of vehicles on either side. Will definitely post here when we get up and running.

Please do.
AARs and players comments are exactly what we would like to hear.

This is not a criticism but I'm wondering if we could reduce the number of steps to fire a manpad ?
Step 1 give the order
Step 2 determine lock on
Step 2A add or subtract modifiers
Fail action ends
Lock on !
Fire missile
Compare Attack factor of missile to defense factor of target plus or minus modifiers
Roll highest roll wins.
Pilot evades action ends
Missile hit!
Determine missile damage points
Add or subtract to damage points vs aircraft armor or other modifiers
Subtract damage points from aircraft hit points
If aircraft reduced to zero points it is shot down and owning player takes 2 chits
If damaged roll for morale with 2 results possible ok or rtb if rtb aircraft and load are lost for game but no chit is taken.

Hi Whoa Mohamed
I don't disagree that it looks like a lot of steps. In our tests it goes pretty quickly - but I'd love to see new suggested approaches. I really like the idea of a opposed roll for SAMs to represent the pilot attempting to evade the missile rather than a simple to hit roll, but that's just me.

A playable cold war game would be very nice, I am not too fond oftoo much tech in Modern games, they tend to spoil the game for me.

Yes... there are certainly a few things we will be slimming down to maintain the 'fast-play' ethos of Battlegroup.
The handy thing of these discussion threads, and Richard's work, is it's giving us a basis to work from and assess things.

That is good to know. I am more a child of the 70's and remember the army from then and early 80's,I would like to game that era,it was quite different to what there was later and was more human than now.
