Tobruk scenario orders
Wed May 02, 2018 4:17 pm
In the Tobruk scenarios, where there are British, Italian and German forces, do each of the Axis forces generate their own orders, ie 2d6 for the Germans and 2d6 for the Italians?

In the Tobruk campaign scenarios the Axis side either uses a German DAK force or an Italian force, not both. You must choose which of the listed forces you want to use. You may still use the Combined Operations rule, meaning you may have some Italians in your DAK battlegroup, but these are part of your force and you still roll only 2d6 + officers for orders.

Got you. I thought it looked a bit tight for the British!

We played the whole campaign out last year and had a blast with it! With multiple players present for each battle it made more sense to have the axis forces split into German and Italian commands with the axis orders divided up between them, while the smaller Brit force was shared between two players. A little friendly rivalry between the axis camps only added to the fun
Despite the numbers, the allies put of a stout defense in the early battles and it took two attempts a week apart to crack the strongpoint in scenario 1, but some poor luck (and an incredible amount of 1's rolled) later on, meant they had to do more with less and the inevitable historic result came about. A clobbering by an SM.79 'Sparviero' with a full bomb load in the final battle didn't help them either!
