Cos the recoil bent them out of shape. They actually removed them most of the time.

Very nice. Always thought the 17/25pdr had an oddly "purposeful" look to it...

Very nice work. Always like the slightly awkward look of the Pheasant.
Most photos I have seen seem to have the counterweight tho I believe it was removed for a period?
Here is a piccie of one with the turntable still attached . I would buy one myself if I was doing a Nth Africa force but they seem to have a limited use ie NA and Sicily?
