Newbie Q - Does Battlegroup reward or encourage squad/section tactics? Empty Newbie Q - Does Battlegroup reward or encourage squad/section tactics?

Haven't played a game yet, still painting up and learning the rules.

Does Battlegroup reward or encourage squad/section tactics? I.e machine gun team lays down suppressing fire and the assault team moves in? Or does it usually just come down to moving the entire squad forward at once and just rolling extra dice because they have an LMG.

Squads/sections are structured in different ways depending on nation. German MG and US BAR are in separate teams to the rifle squad and British have the option to detach the Bren, Soviets all together. Pinning is a key part of the game imho so short answer to your question is yes.

Indeed it does, and so far it is the only rules set I've ever played that simulates real world infantry tactics of fire and movement so well.
