Lmgs in panzergrenadier squads 1943
Mon Apr 29, 2019 12:04 pm
greetings
As I read through the Kursk panzer army list, I noticed that the panzergrenadiers, only had the option of on lmg pr squad.
So I have been pondering about this, and decided, silly or not to ask what's the thoughts as to why on Lmg pr squad?

Those with 2 were too powerful in playtesting iirc. Later books do have the option to add one to the rifle squad though.

By the end of 1941 historically they should all be on the two gun establishment, but this is only for the mechanized panzer grenadiers. Infantry platoons remained on the one lmg per squad right through the war. PG's needed the extra firepower because they only fielded three squads as opposed to the infantry platoon's four.
In our games we've found them comparatively weak, especially when tasked with assaulting those big Soviet rifle squads
