Platoon Support on vehicles
Wed Feb 14, 2018 4:54 pm
TEAM ON VEHICLES
Can I take platoon support teams (eg HMG armored panzGran) on vehicles from other teams? If there is clearly a place.
(In the platoon's composition the Mg Teams can be transported on platoon vehicles)
Andrea
Posso imbarcare dei team di supporto al plotone (es HMG armoured panzGran) su veicoli di altre squadre ? Se c'e posto chiaramente.
(Nella composizione del plotone le Mg Teams possono essere trasportate sui veicoli del plotone)

Yes if there's space they can hop in. I'd count them as another unit for reinforcement allowance though.

Historically yes
In game up to you...
Historically a German panzer Grenadier Company in 1943/1944 so say Normandy had a organization roughly of :
Company HQ in a SDKFZ 251/10 and a SDKFZ 251 or 251/17 2 kubelwagens and 2 motorcycles
3 Platoons each of
HQ in a SDKFZ 251/10 or 251/17 2 kubelwagens and 2 motorcycles
3 Squads in standard 251's
A support platoon of
HQ in a 251 and 1 motorcycles
2 SDKFZ 251/2 Mortar carriers
2 251/9 short 7.5 gun's
3 251/17
3 HMG mg42 which were transported in the 3 251/17's
so e.g. in game you have a German armoured platoon
HQ of 6 men in a sdkfz 251/10 or 251/17
3 rifle team's and 3 mg team's
In 3 sdkfz 251 so 1 mg team and 1 rifle team in 1 sdkfz 251
so for support you could have
One 251/9 short 7.5 gun
1 81mm mortar which you could mount in a sdkfz 251/2 so no need for them to be transported in another vehicle
1 MG42 HMG which hasn't got the same option as the mortar in which you can mount it, so it is up to you if you want transport it in another vehicle or not and if the person your playing with is ok with that.
But you would move the MG42 to a position in which it would cover you troops advance or to pin and shoot at enemy troops , but if you were playing on a game table such as anything bigger than a 6 by 4 you could have it transported in another vehicle.
Hopefully that helps sorry its a lot to read.

Although in Normandy (and in many Divisions till the end in 45) the HMG Squad in the Heavy Platoon had two sections with two HMG's and one SdKfz 251/1 each. There where never enough SdKfz251/17 (or any other SdKfz).
