First unsupervised games of BG
Sun Aug 05, 2018 5:37 pm
Hi All
We decided to just have some 250 points games. Hope we did not make too many list, rule, objective, set up and victory condition rules errors.
We did get a few rules queries
If a plane chit is drawn you wait until next turn then roll a D6 on a 5+ it comes on, do you keep rolling each turn to see if it get there or just on the turn after you draw chit?
If it does come on does it stick around until all its ammo is gone?
Other rules we were not sure on was if an out of ammo, plane or breakdown chit is played does it go back into the bag after the effects have happened or is the chit placed to one side.
Got to say we really enjoyed the games

You only ever roll once on a plane chit. If you fail it goes back into your stack of drawn chits and counts as a zero. If an airplane shows up it stays until it is driven off, shot down, or runs out of ammo.
The special chits ALWAYS stay on the table face down with your pile of drawn chits. It's up to your opponent to remember how many you've drawn...

I thought a plane could only make 3 passes over the table before it had to return to base.
Cheers, Andy

That is incorrect Andy, Nazrat has it right. It stays until it is driven off, shot down, or runs out of ammo.

3 strafing runs with MGs and cannons are allowed, until out of ammo. If the aircraft has other weapons, then it'll be more than 3 turns, dropping bombs/ firing rockets etc, then strafing. Once it has no weapons left it must return to base.

It isn't pleasant to see one pop up on the other side, but they are sometimes easily taken care of by area fire. Keep pinning the thing and it can't do much! Plus, it still has to spot in order to fire direct so not every strafing run will do anything..

Rocket armed Typhoons can hang around for 7 turns if the fire 2 rockets at a time then strafe, that said it's way more fun to hit something big with 8 rockets to get a decent chance of a hit.

We always put the special counters bag in the bag because in real life, you can't say there's no more chance of a mine strike, breakdown or whatever because the counter has been drawn already. Makes life more interesting too
