Tank Riders and allocation of indirect hits
Wed Jan 08, 2020 3:51 pm
Hi all!
After reading the rulebook, FAQ V1.00 and searching in this forum, I'm here to ask your kind help for a clarification on allocating indirect fire hits (direct or pinning) on a tank with tank-riders embarked
Having minded that generally tank riders "can be targeted separately to the vehicle, and thus can be pinned separately", the following questions aroses:
- in case of arty/mortars indirect fire, are they considered as a single unit or not?
- if they are considered as separate units, wich of the two is "the closest" to the spotter round when a single hit is to be allocated?
- if they are considered as a single unit, is required to roll for effects separately or only one is affected (the tank being the biggest or the riders being more vulnerable)?
This clarification is mostly needed in case of pinning hits, rather than direct ones where the riders must be disembarked as pinned in any case, taking D3 casualties if the thank will be destroyed
All the best

They are considered separate units.
"the closest" is always the more vulnerable. In this case, the infantry riding the tanks.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Diego

Thank you Diego
So, in case of a single direct hit, the only affected unit is the tank riders squad, that will be attacked using the appropriate shell's HE blast rating, whilst the tank remain unaffected

yes. As you said. If a single direct hit was scored, It would fall on the poor buggers riding the tank.
