BG for other periods
Wed Apr 24, 2019 1:41 pm
Just wondering if anyone has tried to extend BG for WW1 for example.
I can't see any major obstacles apart from creating new lists.
Vietnam, SCW should be even easier.
I am tempted to try it.

Tried late WW1 at the club a couple of months ago. It worked OK. However given the much thinner armour involved I considered "doubling up" the armour classes to give more granularity. Another project on the list!!

Yes! We recently adapted the core rules to play a Boer War scenario (Talana Hill 1899), and it was very successful indeed. Magazine rifles, Maxim machine guns, 37mm auto cannons and even the 4.7"and 155mm guns are all in the rules, and almost all the field artillery is 75mm caliber, firing direct, so nothing difficult to work out there. We adopted the 'fire team' method used in Northag instead of WWII squads and platoons, with three figure firing units representing British companies or Boer corporalships. Oh, and the British won a very narrow victory, as in the real battle!
