Panzerfausts and spotting

on Sat Aug 11, 2018 8:04 pm
Hi all,

Played a game of Overlord today. Some discussion about panzerfausts came up. It ended in both parties not giving in so we decided to ask on the forum (still miss the old forum). Here goes:

Player has a 6-men infantry squad with 2 panzerfausts.

1) If squad moves (5"), Can they still shoot with both panzerfausts?
2) If so, at seperate targets?
3) If so, and both panzerfausts go on the same target, do both of them need a spotting roll or do they count as "ROF 2" (so only one spot is needed) ?

My guess is you can only shoot 1 panzerfaust (or panzerschreck) after you've moved and when not moving shoot 2 of them with a spotting roll for each.

The squad would move and then be able to fire both its panzerfausts at the same target (an aimed fire with AP shell has only 1 target). The sequence would demand a single observation test (for the squad to spot the target), then roll to-hit with both fausts. If both hot, roll both to penetrate.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the clarification Warwick,

Just to clarify a little more (last questions about this, apologies).

- If they didn't move, can i declare 2 targets or do they always have to be on the same target?
- Panzerschreck team not moving has 2 shots, can they split up or also on the same target?

A fire action/half-order is Always conducted against a single target.

So no, you cannot move and fire at two separate targets with any weapon.

If you do not move, you have two fire action/half-orders as part of an 'Open Fire' order, so may select a different target for each.

Anybody stupid enough to put two vehicles within 10" of a Panzershreck team (or 20" of one on reserve move...) Deserves to lose both of them.
