Take Cover Scenics News update Empty Take Cover Scenics News update

Hi folks,

it's good to see Battlegroup getting a shiny new forum since the demise of the Guild.

Some of you may well have seen the following information posted on facebook, but I'm posting it here for those of you who don't do FB.

There are a few exciting developments to tell you about regarding upcoming new ranges from Take Cover Scenics.

ULTIMATE BOCAGE - As announced earlier in the week, the first items in the Ultimate Bocage Range have now gone live on the website.

Ultimate Bocage by Take Cover Scenics is a premium range of deluxe, hand-crafted bocage road sections that replicates the claustrophobic feel of the sunken lanes in the Normandy bocage area. Each section has a solid base, with attached earth banks modelled onto both sides of the road. Every piece is like a mini-diorama, with grit, gravel, several layers of flocks and grasses, earth powders, hedgerows, bushes, grass tufts, optional trees and even a rock or two poking out from the banks. The road surface is textured, rutted and has tank tracks.  A lot of time, planning, materials and attention to detail goes into ensuring that each section looks as good as it possibly can.

Designed specifically for 20mm (1/72), but also fantastic for 15mm, Ultimate Bocage is a growing range of products that will enable you to truly represent ultra-realistic bocage and sunken lanes on the tabletop.

The initial launch is for 12" straight sections with or without trees, but shorter sections, curves, junctions and end pieces are all coming soon!

OLIVE TREES - Olive Trees and Olive Groves are being officially launched next week! These are already out there "in the wild" on a few games tables, but they'll be going live on the website next week. So whether you're after a couple of single Olive Trees, or a whole grove of them, you'll be able to order them next week. Also, by customer demand, they'll be available in two styles of base colour - a reddish sienna colour, or an ochre arid desert colour. Both look great!

4" WIDE ROADS - I've already made a couple of hundred feet of 4" wide flexible roads and junctions over the last few months as specialist orders, but they'll be available on the website very soon. Great for 28mm gaming with tanks and for wider roads in 20mm.

Also on the horizon - rivers, streams, hills and wadis. These are still at the testing stage, but almost ready to launch!

PRICE INCREASE ON SOME PRODUCTS - it's a fact of life that things go up in price from time to time. Whether it's your food bills and fuel, or whether it's raw material costs for building terrain, we're all affected. With this in mind, a price increase will come into effect on SOME products in the range from 1st March 2018.

Many products will remain unchanged, but the 3" wide Flexible Roads, the Normandy-style bocage roads (NOT Ultimate Bocage!), the larger 28mm sized hedges and the larger fields will see an increase.

DELIVERY LEAD TIMES - Please note that due to high order volumes, and the fact that each piece is individually hand crafted, order to delivery timescales are currently running slightly longer than advertised.

AND FINALLY - thank you to all my customers for helping to put Take Cover Scenics on the terrain-making map! As you have seen there are a lot of exciting developments coming this year.

Cheers,
John, Take Cover Scenics

Ahh, I see my photos haven't appeared in the above post! What am I doing wrong? Clicked the "Insert Image" icon, pasted in the URL for the photos on facebook, and nothing happened! Any ideas?

You're not linking to actual image addresses, but rather pages (on Facebook) where the images are displayed. I dont know if Facebook actually allows hotlinking/deeplinking, but you would need to get a URL that ends with a graphics extension, e.g. ".jpg" for the most common format. Unless disabled, you can get this by right-clicking on an image and select "copy image URL" (or something similarly worded).

I'm not allowed to post external links yet, so cannot demonstrate how to do it, but the above should work, if you copy the image URL and then remove all the characters after ".jpg".

P.S.: Those rows of vines are rather nice, the olive trees as well.
